Can you believe that it’s the end of another year already?!
Looking back at 2022, we can safely say it’s been another challenging one, but there have been plenty of reasons to feel grateful too.
Speaking of gratitude, we want to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to our lovely Ali as she leaves SPTM to start another role. Let’s look at the huge difference she’s made in the community over the last couple of years.
She started her role as SPTM’s community worker in February 2020; just one month before the lockdown. To say she had to hit the ground running was an understatement!
Reaching Out to Those in Need
But in a time of huge uncertainty, Ali’s perseverance and commitment to the SPTM community shone through. She reached out to support those in need, collecting and delivering food donations through the #ReduceWaste project.
As lockdown restrictions continued, Ali turned to social media, getting creative and making TikTok cookery videos, showing residents how to make a nutritious family meal on a budget.
When the restrictions finally started to ease a little, Ali was keen to create at least a little normality for families, and she delivered free activities in the holidays. Who could forget the Egg Hunt in a blizzard during the Easter Holidays?!
To Ali, the conditions didn’t matter. What was important was giving families the chance to do activities safely during lockdown to beat the monotony. Speaking of her holiday activity programme, Ali said,“ Families were needing something to do during the weeks of lockdown. We ( SPTM) had to respond to what they were asking for.”
Memorable Moments at SPTM
During the years since, Ali has many memories of her time with SPTM. Here are some of the ones that stick out in her mind:
But even more memorable for Ali is the people she’s met, worked with, and got to know over the last few years.
“ The people of St. Peter’s & The Moors are an incredible community who want the best for each other and their neighbourhood. It’s been an absolute pleasure working alongside you for SPTM Big Local and I wish all of you the best for the future.”
